Brief description |
The chair of the History of Technology investigates technical developments which have come about in specific historical contexts and which have been perceived by groups as a possibility for social change, negotiated and ultimately used or forgotten. The issues involved in the history of technology emerge from a society's current need for orientation, their procedures are aligned with current methods in historical science. |

| Research |
Priority research programmes are focused on the areas of the history of
energy supply, the technical-scientific perception and presentation of space,
the development of digital telecommunications, the genesis of theengineered body as well as the history of knowledge in the 19th and 20th centuries. |
| Teaching |
Elective Courses GESS: Introductory courses on the history
of technology are offered as online classes, enabling students to gain a better
understanding of the complex relationship between technological development and
society. Seminars and colloquia are also held, focusing on the areas covered by
the priority research programmes.
